According to the Russian Foreign Ministry from 01.08.2023 there's going to be an eVisa for the whole Russian Federation, after it was announced in 2020.

Hello!

Relating the last message, we managed the visa as we was travelling.

We send our passports and all documentation by air mail to the embassy of our country (Spain). No problem at all, and we get a multi visa for 6 months for Russia!!

About the border, you can see how was in our last YouTube video: https://youtu.be/JyqnaE7PugI. We spent 80 hours on the border! crazy!!!

You are invited to see our videos of Russia (Spanish, but you can put subtitles) 😅. And we are going to post useful info in our travel blog: https://sincodigopostal.com.

Sorry for the “spam” hehe. 😂, but we think can be useful for other people. If you have questions, we are here to answer!

Has anyone from a Western country already applied for it? I'm sceptical if there is any practical way to pay for it, as western credit cards do not work in Russia due to sanctions.

Yes, it's possible (payment system through another country). We, two Europeans, did it. Be aware that not only the staff asked us many questions at the immigration (of course) but they also checked our phones for at least 1 hour. They went through all messages (with the help of translator!), pictures, wrote down some phone numbers of our contact lists... They were searching for any possible relation we could have with Ukraine.
