Altitude Sickness

Hi guys, is it easy to buy diamox or comparable in pharmacy in Almaty / major cities of Uzbekistan / Dushanbe before entering Pamir Highway?
Personally I summited Kilimanjaro before but it was 10 years ago already and would like some diamox with me just in case..

Diamox (or Ацетазоламид) as it is known in this part of the world is usually sold with a prescription and it is very unlikely that they will sell it to you without having one. May be a local can help you with this.But it won't be cheap.

Btw, do not rely on Diamox to cure your altitude sickness because it won't. If you feel so bad that you must use it, take some with a lot of water and descend asap, even if it is during the night.You may take it in advance to help you acclimatize but it has side effects.
