Hi all,
I am starting to plan my 2017 trip and getting all my vaccinations into my WHO booklet. I read on caravanistan that at the border Iran to Turkmenistan the authorities want you to get a polio shot or something at the border. But that was in 2013.
- Anyone in recent years experienced this?
Also about the transit Visa: Is it even worth trying for it or will I just need to save extra cash to book a 3-day no frills tour as I just want to see the crater and then head to Uzbeistan/Tajikistan and spend time in the Pamir?
Thanks for your insights and happy travels,
Jasmin

Re: Vaccinations: border BAJGIRAN/Ashgabat
Hi Jasmin,
quite a lot of people have been getting it so far. The only people who have been refused AFAIK, were working for a human rights organisation. So I would say, at the moment chances are high that you will get it. If it fails, there's always the tour option.
Polio shot was a weird one-off, I think.
