Uzbek-Kazak (Nukus to Beyneu) Broder Crossing

Post by medhajoseph »

We will be driving in our own vehicles (indian registered) in Central Asia in June 2015. Planning to drive from Nukus to Beyneu to cross the border from Uzbek to Kazak.

Is it possible to cover this distance in one day considering road conditions and time taken to complete border crossing formalities.

That border crossing is used by migrant workers going to and from Russia and it can take some time to complete. Make sure you announce your presence and hope that you are deemed suitably 'foreign' to be whisked to the front of the queue.

Even as a foreigner it took several hours of waiting in wretched, shadeless heat to get through. Take food and water just in case.

In theory then, if you left Nukus very early, with luck you should be in Beyneu by nightfall. But don't bank on it.

I'd love to hear more about your journey (how are you getting through / around Pakistan??) - Do you have a website?
