Hi All,
We are planning to do a road trip from Dushanbe to Dushanbe, going till Karakul in 1st week of June. For this, we want to travel via Bartang Valley from Karakul to Rushan on a 4X4 (like highlander) in June 1st week. Is this possible? I have only seen cycle tours blogs in this route and hence not sure about travel via 4X4. Did any of you do this trip or know about the route and if it is possible. Any leads or info will be great!

Re: Self drive travel from Karakul to Rushan via Bartang Valley
Generally it is possible, only problem is landslides. You never know if the road might be blocked, meaning you would have to make a big detour. But in general, if you have a good 4wd, I would say, yes it is possible.

Re: Self drive travel from Karakul to Rushan via Bartang Valley
it depens on the preceding winter/spring, but not only.
not mentioning about the kokjar corner (as it always needs low-gear transmission and excellent breaks, sometimes may be blocked by huge boulders - if you get into the traverse and a boulder stops you, you have a big problem, turning is not possible, you have to drive back for several hundred metres), a place one day could be easy, next day will be not possible to pass, not only because of spring landslides ("sil"). a sunny and hot day may increase the level of side springs/rivers flowing from the above glaciers and it may completely destroy/cover the track.
unfortunately, this year winter/spring season is very snowy/wet. some days ago an avalanche destroyed a dozen of houses in sangvor in obimazor valley, three valleys north of bartang.
